I also thought so initially, but no, the dictionary says that the sg.
is trup 'trunk, log', not trupa. I don't know why such a
contradiction, a lot of native speakers would, I think, say it should
be trupa.

Not to be confused with trupa (-trupi-trupi), like in teatralna
trupa 'company of actors'.

But you do have a diminutive "trupche",

yes, trupche is both 'small corpse' and 'small trunk'. Another,
feminine, diminutive would be trupichka, which does exist, but
means only 'a small group (of actors)'.
