don't they look like two words, in fact:
- trup (m.) 'corpse' - trupa - trupove (pl.), the second form being
the old dual, preserved as cardinal (dva trupa 'two corpses'), and
- trup 'block of wood, log' - trupi - trupi (pl.), i.e. it behaves
like a noun of _feminine_ gender (dve trupi 'two logs').
