You could be right Brian. I got the references when I
typed in "Molda" and "river" on my search engine. I'll
try to remember where I got the notion that the
Carpathian Molda (va) was an Old Germanic hydronym. I
know it wasn't from the Internet. Unfortunately I made
no note at the time... GK
