Apparently not. As I said, <Lasse> predates <Lars> in the
historical record in Norway. For Denmark I quote from DGP:
Den i Vulgærlatin kendte Form <Larentius> (Kock, Sv.
ljudhist. II 266) er sjælden, og det deraf udviklede <Lars>
er efter middelalderligt, hvorfor Antagelsen af en gammel
Assimilation Lars > Lasse er uden kronologisk Holdepunkt
(Heise, Dipl. Vibergense p. 36, som citeres herfor hos BrNGG
II p. 222, har ikke <Lars>, men <Pether Lassen>).
