I do not agree. The perfect has most definitely been influenced by
the participle.

This is completely irrelevant. We were not talking about /ksC/, which
always gives /sC/.

I. to put out(side), to show; to place; to abandon (a child, a
foundling); to put ashore; to put at someone's disposal; to expose,
put in danger
II. to imagine; to award (a prize); to explain, to describe; to prove;
to narrate.
