Slavs and Balts

Wondering I am:
I read somewhere that the Slavs were originally a "Nordic" people (as far
as their racial type is concerned), is this true, in the sense that they
were originally indestinguishable from the Germanic tribes as far as
physical appearance? (tall, fair, longheaded, etc.). If this is the case,
than physically the Norse probably couldn't distinguish the Slavic slaves
they traded from their own as far as their appearance.
