Alex, the word is thoroughly absolutely and regularly Greek. You say you
don't know Greek yourself - so please listen to those of us who do. The
word is regular, regularly formed, and there are no questions or problems or
difficulties.

(a) Greek plurals are often Latinised when written in English books - hence
in English we see Greek plurals in -i instead of -oi very commonly.

(b) The form in the Iliad is actually the same as in Strabo, the genitive
plural, ending in -o:n.

(c) The -o- vowel is absolutely regular. Verbs often have an -e- vowel,
nouns an -o- vowel. Phero / phoros, lego / logos etc etc etc. So amelgo =
to I milk, -molgos = milker.
