My way to rationate was as follow:
1) I read Virgil think the Romans are descendants of Troyans. When you
hear it you say: lie or true
if lie then forget it
if truth then is something else which can confirm it? Let see. The next
step for seeing if something is true is to read something about Trojans.
And the best one to do is to read Homer and Strabo.
Homer speak about thracians in the trojan times. So, the thracians have
been , they existed in the time of Troj.
Strabo gives us toponyms which are to find in Thrace and in Troy. OK.
One could make a link here but not 100%. Why? Because after the fall of
Troj we know the region was inhabited by thracians. In so far, it is
very probable that we have _in time of Strabo_ toponyms and hydronims
likely in Thrace and Troj because even the trojan lands have been for
almost 1000 years inhabited by thracians until the time of Strabo.
In so far, one is right to assume there is no linguistic connection
between Trojan and thracians, and all old Toponyms and Hydronims with
Trojan features undergone to the new one given by thracians.
2) Time line:
Point 0 : there are thracians and trojans
Point 1 : there are only thracians ( trojan disappeared)
Point 2a : somewhere , 400 years after these events appears Rome
Point 2b : thracians still exists.
historic conclusion:
Historically it is possible that the Romans are the descendants of
trojans but it is not proved.
Linguistic conclusion:
nothing can tell us if Latin has something with trojan language to do.
You said the Greek spooked with Trojans so there seems there is no
problem of communication between Greek and trojans
I say, the Trojans and Greeks spooked too with the thracians, there
seems too there has been no problem of communication.
From this aspect we cannot conclude _anything_ about the relationship
between these languages.
Because of the possibility that the Trojan toponyms and hydronims
undergone of new names given by thracians, we have just only one point
of linguistic evidence. and these are the antroponyms used by Homer.
If you agree with these steps and these conclusions we can try to
compare these antroponyms of greek, thracians, trojans.
If not, tell me what you dislike or why you don not agree with the way I
gone.
