[Book IV, 44] namque Thracia altero latere a Pontico litore
incipiens, ubi Hister amnis inmergitur, vel pulcherrimas in ea parte
urbes habet, Histropolin Milesiorum, Tomos, Callatim, quae antea
Cerbatis vocabatur, Heracleam.
"Pulcherrima" applied to Tomi suggests there was a remarkably
successful civic beautification program between the time of Ovid and
that of Pliny, or else that Pliny overly relied on material from the
Moesian Tourist Bureau.
