skeleton - 1578, from Mod.L. sceleton "bones, bony framework of the
body," from Gk. skeleton soma "dried-up body," from neut. of skeletos
"dried-up," from skellein "dry up." The meaning "bare outline" (in
skeleton crew, skeleton key, etc.) is first recorded 1607.

Is the word related somehow with the bulgar, serbo-croatian words
"skelia", "skela"?
