This must have happened in most of Italic, including Latin (OLat. diovis > iovis, *diovilios > iulius, Oscan diuvilam > íuvilam, Umbrian iupater, iuvepatre). The <iu-> in <iuppiter>/<iu:piter> is the old vocative *djeu.
