It came out today that DNA studies have found that all domestic dogs
are descended from a few female wolves who lived in East Asia around
15000 years ago. If so, a word for "dog" may have travelled west with
the animal, which may explain the resemblance between IE [kuo_n] and
Mandarin Chinese [chu"an], Ancient Chinese [kjwan].
