Portuguese gordo < *gurdus : Iberic or IE ?

In Portuguese the most usual word for "fat" (adjective) is "gordo". This world is commonly considered as from Iberic Latin *gurdus "stupid, heavy". But *gurdus seems to be cognate to PIE *gWru- "heavy", or to Greek bradys "slow" (*gWrdu- ?)
Any comments?
