Descindentes is from the verb <de:scindo, -ere> ("to
divide").

I agree with the possiblity of being from descindo. We have to
see the whole verses from this carmine.
But, first it is very curious to ask why discentes = in your
opinion with descindo was replaced by "carmen dicente"
Dicente= nothing to do with descindo, but it seems more to do
with discente, dont you find?
