Extremely off topic

This posting is very completely off-topic.

I will ask the list to bear with me this one time; I have thought
after having known this for years that it should be brought to the
attention of a larger audience. But where to publish it? You might
argue it belongs on a toxicology list, but I know I'd get bashed
there, since it's controversial; I might sent it to an odontology
list, but they'd kill me; or I might send it to a psychotherapy list,
but they'd do something even worse to me. Therefore, most gracious
readers of cybalist, I have decided to send it to you, oh intelligent
and unbiassed audience, that you might spread the content of this
posting rumourwise to your intelligent and unbiassed friends,
families and colleagues, also because you have already bashed me in
the past for introducing similar subjects and now know that I am a
harmless nutcase, so that I can hope for a less violent reaction this
time.

Here goes:

The official opinion in odontology with regard to the toxicity of
mercury used in dental fillings is that they can have only one
adverse effect, namely what they term "mercury allergy" (in medicine,
as opposed to odontology, "mercury allergy" has the same ontological
status as "strychnine allergy"; mercury is a poison, period, and a
very devious one at that). The symptoms of this "mercury allergy" are
described as blisters and discolorations of the insides of the cheeks
next to the dental mercury filling.

For comparison:

from Siegmund Freud: Traumdeutung (The Interpretation of Dreams)
Dream between May 24th and 25th 1895

"
A great room - many visitors, whom we entertain. - Among them Irma
[F.'s patient} whom I pull aside immediately as if to reply to her
letter and reproach her for not having "accepted" the solution. I
tell her: "If you're still in pain, you have only yourself to
blame". - She answers: "If you knew, what pain I have in my throat,
stomach and abdomen - it is as if I'm suffocating". - I am horrified
and look at her. She looks pale and swollen; I feel that I must have
overlooked something organic after all. I take her to the window and
look into her throat. She shows some reluctance, as women with false
teeth will do. I feel that it is unfounded in her case. - Now she
opens her mouth completely, and on the right side I find a large
white area; elsewhere I see wide grey-white scabrous formations on
some curious rippled area, which obviously have the same shape as the
nasal muscles. - Quickly I call for dr. M, who repeats and confirms
the examination... Dr. M. looks quite differently from his usual
self; he is very pale, limps, and has a beardless chin. .. My friend
Otto now also stands beside her, and my friend Leopold taps on her
upper body and says: "She has a abscess on the lower left", and also
points out an infiltrated area of skin on her left shoulder (which I,
like he, can feel in spite of the dress) ... M. says: "There is no
doubt, it is an infection, but doesn't matter; She will get
dysentery, and the poison will be excreted..." We also know directly
where the poison comes from. Otto has given her an injection recently
when she felt unwell, of a propyl preparations, propylene ...
propionic acid ... trimethylamine (the formula of which I see printed
before me with bold types) ... That type of injections should not be
done so recklessly ... In all likelihood the syringe was not clean
either.
"

This account of Freud's dream is followed by a long and detailed
analysis of it.

This dream is very famous; it is recognized as the first one Freud
analyzed. Here is my analysis:

It has one theme: Maybe the symptoms Freud treats his patients for
are purely physiological, not psychological. Thr dream suggests two
diagnoses:

1) Mercury poisoning from dental mercury. The symptons described in
Irma's mouth match perfectly the ones orthodox odontology describes
for "mercury allergy". At the time, there was a debate going on as to
the desirability of putting a well-known toxic substance into
people's mouths.

2) Poisoning from a contaminated syringe. One should note here that
vaccines are mixed with a small quantity of a so-called adjuvant, an
irritant without whinch the patient's immune system won't be alerted
to the potential threat that the weakened or dead bacteria in the
vaccine are supposed to mimic. Until recently thiomersal, a mercury
compound, was used as an adjuvant in many vaccines. This was a
calculated gamble; you hoped the patient's system would be able to
protect itself and excrete or bind the mercury; in some cases it
wasn't.

Question: are the symptoms that were described for "neuroses"
consistent with chronical mercury poisoning, eg. the
violent "hysterical" symptoms Charcot describes? Yes, they are. Why
then, does Freud go out on a limb with pages and pages of "analysis"
which consistently avoids the possibility of "something organic"?
Probably because he, like all other doctors at the time, had been
treating patients with mercury himself. Rather than admit the
possibility that not only might he have overlooked something in his
diagnosis, but he and his colleagues might have caused the symptoms
themselves, he invented a whole new science.

Also think of all the patients with suspected syphilis; the
only "cure" for that was mercury. Some of those might have
been "treating" themselves in secrecy.

Thank you for your time and patience.
