I don't know the etymology of the Romanian suffix "-(i)ci".
But, be it of Latin or Slavic origin, it has a bit of a derogatory
connotation, and it is not quite productive.

Hence the mocking background for the word "pacalici".
Similar epitheta are "tremurici" (for someone trembling,
shivering, incl. with fear; also as a family name, Tremurici);
"bolborici" (either for a stammerer or someone talking gibberish;
also as a second name, Bolborici). Etc.
