Three words in Danish retain an -n plural: øjne "eyes", øren "ears"
(obs., replaced by the regular ører) and øxne "oxen" (even more
obsolete, replaced by okser).
Swedish has n-plural in ögon and öron (plus a large nummber of names
of berries + ostron "oysters").
The fact that these relic forms show a large show a large overlap
between Continental Scandinavian and English still puzzles me. Dutch
and German have no similar relic forms.
