Arumanian <armăn-> (as in <limba armănească>) and Daco-Romanian <rumân-> are of the same origin (< ro:ma:n-). <ar(u)măn-> shows a prothetic vowel, which regularly appears before liquids in inherited words in that language. There's no connection with Armenia, of course.

Also a large part of the Vlah population call themselves "armâni". As a side note, I always wondered if it is any relation between the words "armâni" and "armeni" (armenians). This connection could be based on some Romanian toponyms. One that comes in my mind is a village named "Armeni" where no armenians lived in the known history.
