Best way to learn ancient Greek

Well, it seems I need to learn some Greek to progress any farther
with my IE studies.

Any suggestions for good books on this?

I assume its Homeric Greek I need to learn if I'm only interested in
its relevance to IE origins? I have no interest at all in reading the
New Testament in Greek and only marginal interest in the pre-
Christian philosophers -- at least that requires reading them in the
original!

What's the best way to get up to speed on this as quickly as possible?
