I read your posts here, on PIEML and the Nostratic list with
curiosity, but I admit that I understand little of it. I'm
sorry if I've misrepresented your position.

Actually the question was the other way around. The bearing
of a P.I.E., or earlier, *xster- on the origins of Iron st'aly
was being considered. In any case I dropped the whole clumsy
Caucasian loan question after Piotr reassured me that nothing
more than a sporadic sound change was involved.
