You've been citing Chernyx's etymologies from time to time, so I feel a necessity to warrant: his competence hardly extends far beyond the history of Russian (starting from mediaeval times), and I've never seen any Russian scholars to cite his works when discussing topics which are deeper in time (eg, related to Proto-Slavic in general, much less PIE).
 
My impression is that his dictionary is mostly a compilation (Meillet, Pokorny, Vasmer etc), its 'original' parts being rather lame. As to Slavic etymologies, Sadnik-Aitzetmüller's and Trubachev's dictionaries are a better source, IMO.
