Piotr - thanks you very much for your comments (EXTRACT BELOW). Would you or anyone else be able to expand on the following comment. I am particularly interested in the cultural loanwords and the Germanic names with Celtic etymologies.

The migrating Germani replaced the Celts in the lands north of the Alps and partly in the Balkan area. The cultural impact of the Celtic Iron Age on the Germanic (or even pre-Germanic) peoples must have been very deep, also language-wise: there are many cultural loanwords that have to do with social structure and technology, Germanic names with Celtic etymologies, etc.  Marbod was a king of the Marcomanni -- "Borderland folk" in Germanic terms. One could say that the Germani absorbed enough of Celtic culture to take over from the Celts.
