******GK: Thank you very much Alexander. I've been
meaning to acquire a copy of Trubachev's new
(1999)book for some time. Would you have the ISBN
number?

And another question, for you and anyone interested.
How do we explain the "e" in lieu of "a" in some names
preserved by Herodotus (such as the just discussed
"Exampeus"). Is this a quirk of some Greek dialect
(after all the Greeks also had the negative particle
"a")? For instance Herodotus reports about the
"Enarees" (the Scythian soothsayers) and this sounds
as though it could be "An-Arya"?=== Then again I
notice that Thracian sometimes uses "e" where you
would expect "a", like in their word for "horse" which
starts with es- i.o. Indic and Iranian as-.*******
