Lambdacism is a dialectal or regional phenomenon. For
example, Sogdian and Khotanese, though indubitably NE
Iranian, don't show it. The name Arimaspoi may have been
borrowed from a non-lambdacising dialect. Besides, we do not
know how accuratly it was recorded; the original may have
been something like *arm- or *aram- .
