Re: Snorri's "Odin"

The mention of Snorri reminds me my grandmother's reaction when she
saw the cover title of a copy of _The Prose Edda_ I had brought with
me from my college library. She laughed, and then explained that
Snorri's patronymic means 'big-louse-son' (my grandmother was born in
Lillehammer, and yes, she was christened in *that* church).

My goodness. The Homer of the north had a lousy father.
