This is the name also of Moses' sister. I understand it is often
derived from the Ancient Egyptian Meryet, or found in the
non-theophoric element of names such as Meryamun - the name of
Twosret, sister of Princes Moses (aka Amenmesse) who reigned in the
12th century BCE.
