The modern Polish spelling is Maria ("i", not "j"). Exceptionally, Christ's mother's name is often spelt Maryja by traditionally-minded Catholics. Maryla is now virtually an independent name -- originally one of the many diminutives of Maria (current ones include Marysia [the most popular], Marynia, Mania).
