I thank one and all who kindly helped me to get this henny business off the ground. Now we have four possible etymologies - and this is promising, I guess. Here's the fifth (!):
 
why not just a regular deverbal adjective < *wis-to'- (resp. -tah2), where *wis- < *weis- is the same as in Lith. vei~sti 'to breed'. Hen is often a fertility symbol.

anybody aware of suffix *-st- in PIE (especially) to form
