Expanding on what Piotr said, one problem in Hittite is that for many
words (especially the more common ones), we simply don't know or are
not 100% sure what the native word was, because of the practice of the
Hittite scribes to use a cuneiform logogram ("Sumerogram", c.q.
"Akkadogram") instead of spelling out the word in syllabic signs. A
case in point is ANS^E.KUR-RA "horse", but there are a number of other
such words.
