*(a)usro- in Latin would must be *(a)ubr- (Osco-Umbrian aufr-/ofr-/ufr-).
How about *umbrus (Umbrian)? Could be a nasalized form of *ubrus? A meaning
similar to Ausonia?

what's the etymology of OE earendel = ON aurvandill = OHG orentil ?
Perhaps O:rion < *Ausriyon, throught a different IE dialect in Greece.
