What is "cia"??

<zvezda> is the Russian reflex of *gve^zda (Cf. Czech hve^zda or
Polish gwiazda -- no palatalisation in West Slavic). Lithuanian
z^vaigz^de. and Latvian zvaigzne certainly represent the same word,
but the irregularities make comparison difficult. *g^Hwoi- would have
given Slavic **zve^-. I suppose *gve^zda may be related to *sve^tU <
*k^woit-o- 'light' as and irregular expressive derivative of the same
root (cf. *gvizdati ~ *svistati 'whistle'; Slavic shows a non-
satemised voiced stop in such cases).
