I have no problem with these statements.
Apparently a lot of work needs to be done in unravelling the areal
linguistics of Bha_rata of ca. 5500 BP.
A start as you indicated can also be with identification of
substratum lexemes in Gujarati, Sindhi (and Punjabi, if I may add}
not influenced by IA. Same step goes for Tamil. The Indian Lexicon is
an additional resource and should not be confused to postulate
genetic structures.
