Incorrect for the modern languages, at any rate. In 16th/17th-century Polish, <je,dza> glossed Latin words meaning "witch, sorceress", but also <lamia>, <chimaera>, etc. Czech <jeza> derives from a form like the Modern Polish one, with the nasal vowel denasalised and the affricate <dz> simplified.

So is the medieval/modern meaning that I've seen given as "raging" incorrect?
