I wish you were right, but these outbreaks are not "novel." The same thing
happened after the Oklahoma City bombing. You should hear the hate on talk
radio. There have been death threats, vandalized shops and mosques,
including a fire-bombing and shot-out windows, and a march on a mosque near
Chicago. Not for no reason are the governors of California and the mayor of
New York pleading with people to be tolerant and not to lash out against
Arabs or Muslims. Which is a good thing, and I'm thankful for it. There is
a positive side: a lot of people are waking up to the idea that ethnic and
"religious" hatred is destructive and wrong, and speaking out against it.

The last thing we need is more firestorms. The victims will be mostly
civilians, families, not terrorists.

Sounds just like Bin Laden. "Collateral damage" not a concern.
You can't combat that kind of evil by becoming like it.
