After the terrible plane-bombings on Tuesday, we were all horrified. Now,
adding to my horror, come attacks on Arab-Americans. Fire-bombs, shootings
at mosques, attacks on schoolchildren and Moroccan gas station attendants
and Palestinian businesses. These are also Americans, also innocent people.
My Arab friends and loved ones are terrified, and with good reason.

Are we to relive the Crusades over and over again? Retaliate against the
bombing of innocents with the bombing of more innocents? We can be sure
that those responsible for these dire acts have removed themselves from
Kabul, if they were there to begin with. The victims are likely to be the
same people victimized by the Taliban, the women under house arrest who can
not flee, the poor, some of the least powerful people on the planet.

Joao is right, demonization is not going to help. It is part of the problem.
