Try this: *[xei?os]. However, I'm skeptical of that *-H1-. Is there
much attestation for this word or is it assumed on scanty evidence?
Is it possible that it's really *xe:ios instead, a thematic based
on an originally athematic inanimate stem *xe:i- perhaps? That is,
assuming it exists.
