It does, actually, or maybe a character in a Walter Scott novel.

Much of the controversy over Renfrew's hypothesis is the very fact
that he is as distinguished an archaeologist as you can get. When he
speaks professionally, everything he says is carefully, yea, even
respectfully listened to. His peerage is the fruit of a lifetime of
distinguished service.

When the linguists dis his views, they do so in very formal terms.
