<fenouil> or <grenouille>. Surely not "fenwee, grenwee".
For me, they are disyllabic, end in [-nuj] (where [-j] derives from an old
palatal lateral) and rhyme with Anouilh's name. <Louis> is really [lwi]
(monosyllabic). I hope our native French-speakers can confirm all
