I'm Canadian which is mostly American - Close enough.
Torsten is so horribly wrong it's scary. "I went" is far more
common than "I have went" or "I have gone". The tendency is much
more towards simple past tense and, as Piotr mentions, if the past
participle is used it is often without the auxiliary as in "He gone
to the store" or "He got game" and not the comical "Caucasian"
version of the phrase, *"He has got game".
I've never heard "I have took" spoken by native North American
English speakers in my life. "I took" is the colloquial norm,
or even "I've taken" is possible for those that are educated and
want to flaunt their skills in using outdated English tenses.
Personally, I only use the past participle in writing because
I'm insecure and want to flaunt my skills in using outdated
English tenses.
