These traditions are referred to as pseudo-histories. However, when
one views how actual history is composed, modern histories
description of these works as pseudo are at best incredibly
naïve or disingenuous and purposefully misleading, as these were
never designed to be factual accounts. I understand this is difficult
for those who crave black and white issues to grasp. Typically, they
were designed to entertain and in the process impart some ethnic,
nationalistic, or moralistic value. In this respect, these traditions
are an important source of information that can be historical in
nature, within limits.
