The Lycos Network - An aid to superinformation roadkill

Hideeho,

If any of you are wondering, my website located at
http://glen-gordon.tripod.com/ is DEAD. It still sits there but I have
recently been stripped of the power to update it because of the incompetence
of the Lycos webdevelopers and help staff who have completely lost focus of
the little people who made it big.

As Lycos has absorbed different companies, they have recently set to work on
destroying the functionality of the Tripod site. And they have succeeded.
For the past month, when I succesfully log in with my membername and my
special password, the website directs me to press a "Continue" button to
"give more information". However, when I press it, it simply shows a Lycos
Kids page telling me that I'm not "old enough" to be using Tripod ??? Even
if I _were_ 12, I hardly see how Tripod is so x-rated that it should exclude
minors!? At any rate, regardless of logging in, I am given absolutely no
power to change my personal information to the proper settings. I am in
effect up the creek without a paddle.

I have since been fighting with Tripod for an entire month to remedy the
situation to no avail and I have already lost two sites before this incident
through the same stupidity that Lycos dishes out - one on the now
dysfunctional Angelfire and one more on Tripod. They are set in their
lunatic ways and I have no other choice but to reestablish my website on a
non-Lycos site to prevent further web disasters.

I hope this educates others to be more cautious when choosing free webspace
on the internet. My new strategy involves avoiding any company that is
getting too large for its own good to the detriment of its ad-bombarded
customers that it's supposed to be satisfying.
