Greetings everyone!
My name is Catherine Virginia Stoudt-Bidwell, but I prefer my nick of
Katie. As far as I know, I am not of Persian heritage...but, I am
very interested in the country and especially it's religious roots
pre-Zoroastrian. This is where my odd question comes in. Odd
because of the fact that as far as I have seen, in the little links I
have, I can not find a thing to explain anything about this God,
except in what was taken and reverted in Zoroastrianism, Islam and
Judaism. So, I hope you can help...someone...please!!!
Aesma Daeva, linked to, or is, Asmodai / Asmodeus of Judaism. I have
found: He was a storm God, a god of war and strife, but was once a
very venerated God, possibly from the Middle area of Persia proper.
I also found a source saying that Aesma was linked to the
constellation of the Big Dipper / Ursa Major. Linked somehow with
the Goddess Ma and also named Asmo. Is there anything, at all, that
explains Him or His roots? Also, how would one pronounce His name
phonetically? Are there any pictures of this God?
I mean, I can't believe there is nothing about Him left. I refuse to
believe that. Can you please help me? I have interests in Set of
the Ancient Egyptian religion who I find Aesma Daeva to share much in
common with.
I thank you very much, and hope to hear from you soon!
