The origin of the Guanche is no mystery. They were the remnants of
Hamites who once lived from Egypt to Morocco. Their language is a
dialect of Berber. They would be distant relatives of the blond Libyans
who were neighbors of the Egyptians. They obviously arrived in boats
but gave up boat-building.
