Beside *Ingwaz there is also ON Yngvi <
*Yngwan
Doing some "phonetical gymnastic" we can imagine
some other origins for Ingwaz/-an
Haplology of Uningwa-? Iningwa-? Igingwa-?
Ungigwa-? Ugingwa-?
Is Yngvi/Yngr really a PIE name?
Curious: Ungigwan could be from *Nghwi-gwhon
"Snake-killer", analogous to Sanskrit ahi-han (cf. Vrtrahan "Vrtra-killer) and
Greek ophiophonos. But unfortunately there's no "snake-killing" trait in
Yngvi-Freyr.
