If <ï> is derived from some kind of H, I guess there's a possibility
that it was originally meant to stand for /hw/ (cf. Gothic) as it
indeed occurs in *i:hwaR. But why *i:hwaR, then, and not acrophonic
*hwat or *hwi:la or *hwaitiR? And why no /kw/ (cf. Gothic)?
