Indeed, it's a possibility.

In the case of *(d)ak^ru "tear", I would still prefer another ad-hoc
solution, influence of *ak^r- "sharp, bitter" as in "bitter tears".
(Interestingly, in connection with the "blood" word, Pokorny suggests
here an ancient heteroclitic paradigm *ak^-r(g), *ak^-n- ?).
For Gmc. *dagaz, I find the link with *dheghw- "to burn" satisfying
enough.
