upsilon is not an exception. Actually, it's name was to` hu~. Psilon
was added (and spiritus changed to lenis :) by Byzantian philologists
(I can explain why if it matters, let me know). Cf. other genuine
names:

to` 'ei~ (epsilon)
to` wau~ (digamma)
to` he:~ta (eta)
to` la'bda (lambda)
to` PSei~ (psi)
to` KHei~ (chi)
to` 'o: (omega)
