They call it caution. I was reporting a
well-known fact (the widespread use of dice in divination, also in ancient
Italy, is another), but you can't trust those dicemakers. Some even load their
dice. I once saw a collection of old dice (from Roman to mediaeval and later) in
a museum in London that provided a mirror in the showcase so that the familiar
"777" arrangement could be clearly seen. They also had some false ones with two
sixes on opposite faces -- _they_ certainly didn't add up to
seven.
Personally, I find the Tuscania Dice
argument pretty convincing, and since we have independent confirmation that
<ci> = 'three', it seems reasonable to _tentatively_ assume that
<sha> = 'four'. I'm aware of other possibilities and won't break down and
weep if it turns out that 'four' = <huth>.
