Sorry, Piotr, but when I use OED I simply follow their terminology.
I am aware that PC has caught up with lingustics and that it is no
longer proper to say "pre-Teutonic" even if most people will know
what it means. So, Proto-Germanic is just playing with words. I
wonder if OED will change all their
Pre-Teutonic and Aryan to Proto and PIE - a massive job.
As for your correction of PIE *prtus- to PGmc *furd , here again I
was merely following OED. Perhaps, you should write to the Editor
pointing out their error?
