It's not a whole lot of work to give the complete text
of the Lemnos
stele, so here it is:

B [On the side]
1 holaie$i:phokiasiale:$eronaith:evistho:toverona
(R->L, upside down)
2 rom:haralio:$ivai:epte$io:arai:ti$:phoke:
(L->R)
3 $ivai:avi$:sialchvi$:mara$m:avi$:aomai
(R->L)

(snip)

There are many ways to interprete lemnian or/and etruscan. I have
followed Glen and Miguels exchange of opinions, and just for fun I sat
down with the Mc Callisters' index and tried to sort out what is
written on the Lemnos stele. Miguels complete text above is used as a
basis. My "method" has been to list the sentence(s) word by word. I
have also taken the liberty to assume that the lemnian/etruscan words
and names basically are short - consisting of one stem + suffix +
suffix + suffix, each canging the meaning of the basic word or name.
I do not in my wildest dreams propose that the following is a correct
reading or translation of the text.

etruscan/lemnian "match" english
1. holaie$i hulcnie (stem: hul) "Of the family/stock of Hul/Hol"
2. phokiasiale puce (fighter) "who (was) family of warriors"
3. $eronaith Seronaith (name Ser(on)+) "(the)Seron or Serona"
3b $eronaith serin (to stiffen) "stiffened"
4. evistho evi "eternal, for ever"
5. toverona thvariena "the doorkeeper of"
6. rom rom "Roma"
7. haralio haral (name+) "Haral"
8. $ivai ziva "lived until/died"
9. epte$io eprthe "superior"
10. arai ara(to act through movement "advised by"
/exhort/advise)
11. ti$ tins "Zeus"
12. phoke puce "warrior"
13. $ivai ziva "lived until/dead"
14. avis avil "years"
15. sialchvi$ sialchvis "60, 40, 54?"
16. mara$m maru/marvas "official/magistrate"
17. avis avil "years"
18 aomai ama(love amu) to be "has been"

Hm.

Could this mean: "Haral, the of (mother?) Seronai, of the stock of
Hul, warriors of fame, the superior doorkeeper of Rome (Roman
official) eternal advised by Zeus, lived and died as a warrior and
official/magistrate being 40/60/54 years by death".(?)

Or: "The forever stiffened Haral, of the family/stock of Hul,
anchestors of the of (mother?) Seronai, doorkeeper of Rome, eternal
advised by Zeus, lived and died as a warrior and official being 40
years by death."

I don't know. Flying kites. Thin air up here.

I have sliced up the word phokiasiale as follows:phok-i-a-si-ale

phok puce figter/warrior
i who
a of family
si adjective/gen suffix
ale dative/genitiv

Now Glen, what do you think?
